Women's Rights: Is It a Question of Attitude?
Introduction: What do we mean by minorities? It's self-evident that the notion of a homogenous society is a fiction. There is no such nation whose citizens have the same qualities and attributes in terms of sex, race, religion, social background etc. The term minority is used to depict a smaller part of a whole when talking about ethnicities. Here are two examples of races facing discriminatory actions with historic backgrounds that later lead to affirmative action and quotas: Blacks (racial segregation - Martin Luther King) Africans (the abolition of slavery - Abraham Lincoln) Women's rights: Nevertheless, this term can either be used to talk about the most populous marginalized society in the world, representing half of the population: women.
