Package holiday vs. Individual holiday

People usually have a different opinion on how to go on holiday. Which one is better? A package holiday or an individual holiday. Let me weigh the fact between these two types of holidays.        First and foremost, people are advised to go on a package holiday if they don’t speak a foreign language. A package holiday is advantageous because you don’t have to arrange the journey, while if you go on an individual holiday you do. The guide helps and informs you. There are drawbacks, too. For example, you aren’t your own master and your program is fixed. You have less time, while if you go on an individual holiday, you’re your own master and you have more free time.       Let’s talk about the other side – an individual holiday. As I’ve mentioned you change your program spontaneously. An individual holiday can be disadvantageous, too. On the one hand, you have to plan your itinerary, on the other hand, you need to reserve a room in advance. Moreover, you have to exchange mo

My last holiday

Last summer I and my family went to Parádfürdő in the Mátra. It was in August three day before I had gone to the fresher man camp with my new classmates to Lake Velence. I enjoyed this holiday because we only go on holiday twice a year in the summer. Unfortunately, these holidays are very short. The journey took about two hours. At the end of the route, I felt a bit sick because there wasn’t enough oxygen in the car. After we arrived, we entered our room. The room was in good condition.      There were lots of things to do, although there weren’t so many things to visit in the Mátra. The hotel where stayed had a thermal pool, which was so relaxing for me. We could play Ping-Pong, too. There is the highest point at Mátra called The Kékes, but we have been there so many times, so we weren’t so interested. There was a gym where I could lift heavy barrels. This hotel had its garden, too. I could take nice photographs with my camera. The dinner was out of the world. There was a wi

Various places to eat

• S treet food restaurant: cheap street food that we get very quickly. Simple food, hot-dog gyros. • D rive-through restaurant: drivers order at the first window and get the food at the second windows for paying. • C afé: the place where you chat and surf on the Internet and have drinks. • C onfectioner's: the place where you can buy cakes and sweets. • F ast-food restaurant: the place where the service is very fast. Simple food, junk food, such as hamburgers. • S elf-service restaurant: the place where you take the food for yourself. • Nationality restaurant: where you can taste each nationality’s food. • O rdinary restaurant: you must reserve a table in advance. You choose the food you want from the menu and the waiter/waitress serves you the food. It’s more elegant than fast-food restaurants. • Pub: where you go out with your friends and have drinks like beer. • Takeaway: you don’t eat at the restaurant. They wrap up it for you and then you take the food back

Travelling and public transport

People usually have different opinion about how to travel. Public transport or car? Which one is better and why? Let’s weigh the facts between these two types of travelling. Cars were invented 100 years ago. They mean a huge help for all the people. We can easily drive anywhere quickly by car. Going shopping or going on holiday is much convenient with them. If I went shopping on foot, I had to carry the heavy shopping bags on the way from home which is very tiring. As for the travelling hours, travelling by car is trustful. Cars are suitable for people who have to be on time. But there is not only benefit, but there are also drawbacks, too. Travelling by car in downtown takes a lot of time. Sometimes travelling with public transport is faster, because cars can be stuck in traffic jams. In addition, fuel is very expensive. Public transport is suitable for students travelling around the city. Season tickets are cheap. Trams and undergrounds don’t provide carbon-dioxide while cars do. As

Travelling abroad or staying inland

Travelling abroad: Advantages: • New places, people, culture, (local) food • improve your English skills Disadvantages: • It’s more expensive • difficulties with learning a foreign language • difficulties understanding the locals • It may take a longer time to get there • you need to exchange money Staying inland: Advantages: • It’s cheaper • you can use your mother tongue • you don’t have to exchange money • same currency • patriotism Disadvantages: • you can’t speak English • you can’t improve your speaking skills

The place where I live - Tétel

There’re lots of kind of accommodation where you can live. For example, in blocks of flats which contains lots of flats. Another one is a skyscraper which is a very tall building with lots of flats. Some of my classmates lived in semi-detached house where two houses are joined. A cottage is rural and it’s nor modern. You can find buildings like this in villages. A mansion is a huge and impressive building. And there’re housing estates as well. A terraced house is when many flats are joined together in a row. I live in Budapest in a detached house. It’s better than living in a flat because it’s more spacious than flats. It’s less noisy. If I lived in a flat in a very busy square like Kossuth Square, the transport conditions would be better. If I went abroad, renting a flat would be more suitable, because it’s just temporary. Summarizing if you have enough money a house is a better choice. As I’ve mentioned I live in Budapest, which is the capital city of Hungary. To be honest, life is

Corner shops vs. supermarkets

There’re some differences between the two type of shopping. Let me weigh the benefit and drawbacks. Supermarkets have wider variety of products than corner shops. The service in smaller shops are more personal than in supermarkets. As for the prices, supermarkets are usually cheaper because they sell their products in bigger quantity. Another difference is that supermarkets offer different services, such as hairdresser's, café and dry cleaner. People go to supermarkets to do the weekly shopping while people go to a cornershop if they forgot to buy something. Or during occasions when supermarkets are closed. Unfortunately, tobacco shops usually belong to corner shops and there’re lots of drunk people who are alcoholists and homeless. But when it’s about a little purchase we grab what we need in a supermarket. Another reason why like going to supermarkets is the discount. Sometimes people go to corner shops because supermarkets are usually located out of the city and corner shops ar

Letter of application

Dear Sir or Madam!      I am writing in response to your job advertisement concerning the position of the receptionist assistant job. I have found the advertised post extremely interesting because it fits my expectations.         As for my qualifications, I have just finished primary school, so I have GCSEs. But I would like to go to further education. I learnt finance, accountancy and a little bit of economics as vocational subjects. I consider myself hard-working, diligent, punctual and career orientated. I have not worked before for a salary. If children want to work under 16, they need parental permission. Fortunately, my parents allowed it. I need to be trained but I learn things quickly, so it will not be a problem. I can speak English almost fluently. I can do all kinds of duties including answering the phones, helping the costumers or any other odd jobs.       I am ready to attend a job interview at your earliest convenience. I am enclosing my curriculum vitae. I look fo

Jobs - Tétel

People have different opinion which is better. Blue-collar jobs or white-collar jobs? Let’s weigh the facts between these two types of working. We talk about white-collar jobs if they’re mentally tiring. You need the vocational qualification to work as an office worker. Blue-collar workers do physical work and they get wages per hour while white-collar workers do mental work and they get salary per mount. You need the appropriate physical condition to work as a miner or a blacksmith. They work all day long from 8 o’clock to 20 o’clock. While white-collar workers work from 8 am to 4 pm which is only 8 hours. They only work in front of the computer and do administrative work or accountancy work. They don’t do as much physical work as miners or plumbers. they work with their brain while blue-collar workers work with their muscles. Summarizing it’s worth going further education because white-collar jobs are usually well-paid while blue-collar jobs are usually badly-paid.

Home- made meals vs. restaurant

People usually have different opinion about where to have meals. Which one is better? Home-made food or restaurants. Let’s compare these two modes of eating. My mother usually tells me don’t go to fast-food restaurant because it’s unhealthy. I can’t agree with her because restaurants are much convenient because you don’t have to spend time with the cooking. The service is very fast, and you don’t need to wash the dishes, although it’s more expensive than home- made meals. On the other hand, we don’t know the ingredients, which is a drawback. While if you cook at home you do. It usually has a better taste because you have made it. The biggest advantage of cooking at home is that it’s cheaper. But unfortunately, you must pay attention during cooking. Summarizing, I prefer fast food restaurant because I can’t cook.

Fast-food vs. ordinary restaurants

People usually have different opinion about where to have meals. Which one is better? Which one is better? Fast food restaurants or ordinary restaurants. Let’s compare these two places. Fast food restaurants are wide-spread among teenagers. The service is fast and there is simple food. It’s cheaper than ordinary restaurants, and you needn’t reserve a table in advance. However, you may not find a seat. Fast food restaurants offer hamburgers, while ordinary restaurants cook nutrient-dense food, which have high nutritional value. There are lots of fast-food restaurants all over the country. I have mentioned that maybe you may not find a seat, that’s why drive-through restaurants are established next to McDonald’s. At the first window you can order and at the second window, you get the food against paying for it. In McDonald’s, nobody knows the ingredients of the food. We don’t know what the food really contains. We all know it contains too much oil, fat, salt and sugar. To be honest, foo

Environment - Tétel

Environmental pollution is one of the biggest problems in the world. People all around the world learn about it but there isn’t any significant change. The greenhouse effect causes the increasing of the temperature. Warm light goes in the environment but can’t go out because of the atmosphere. This is called the greenhouse effect. It causes many problems, such as acid rain, warm-up and the meltdown of the ice caps in the Antarctic and Antarctica. Warmer weather melts the ice caps, therefore ice turns into water, so there’ll be tsunamis. Animals at the poles won’t have space to live and they’ll endanger. Global warming is taught all around the world. There’re lots of presentations by instructors about how to protect the area where we live. Teachers tell advice about how to be environment-friendly. They advise hybrid cars which run on electricity. It doesn’t provide carbon-dioxide (CO2) or carbon-monoxide (CO). While vehicles which run on petrol provide dangerous gases. People prefer co

Education - Tétel

I attend Károly Keleti Secondary Vocational School of Economics. It’s located in the 10th district in Gyakorló Street, near Örs Vezér Square. It’s a very big building. It’s a four-storey building. After entering the building if you turn on the left there’re IT labs, the cloakroom and the doormen’s office. There’s the doctor’s office/surgery, too. On the ground floor, there’s the buffet where you can buy bakes and drinks. In the middle of the ground floor, there’s the hall where students usually spend their time when they have no lesson. The changing rooms are next to the gym and of course, there’re toilets, as well. On the first floor, you can find the staff room. The secretaries are working here. There’s a small exhibition of old gadgets like VHS-cassettes or old computers. There’re lots of classrooms where students’ lessons are usually held. On the second floor, you will find more classrooms and teacher’s rooms. On the top floor which is the third floor, there’s lot of trash includi

Eating - Tétel

Each country has its own traditional food. There’re lots of traditional food in Hungary such as Goulash soup, fisherman’s soup, stuffed cabbage, chimney cake or Dobos Torte. There’re eating habits in Hungary. For example, starters aren’t very common here. While in foreign countries people start lunch with the appetizer. There’s wide variety of soups in the Hungarian cuisine such as Goulash soup, meat soup or egg soup. After soup Hungarian people have main course which may contain a slice of stake with garnish. Garnish can be rice, French fries or pasta. But there’s not only steak but there’re meatloaf, fish, ham, tuna, beef, pork or whatever you want. Pickles are very common such as cucumber or beetroot. We usually eat salad dressing, too. The last course of lunch is a dessert which can be cake, biscuit, cookies, coconut ball, or fruit cake. There’re wide variety of drinks. They can be alcoholic, non-alcoholic. Alcoholic drinks are beer, wine, eggnog, brandy or vodka. Wines can be dry

City vs. village

City: Advantages: • better conditions • well-developed public transport • densely-populated • entailment facilities • easier to find a job Disadvantages: • polluted air • crowded places • properties are more expensive • noisy Village: Advantages: • organ food • densely-knit community • everybody knows everyone • peaceful life Disadvantages: • rural • more gossip • fewer shops and services

Cash vs. credit card

Cash: Advantages: • you can pay in cash everywhere • you have to strict to a budget • you can’t overspend • It doesn’t have fee Disadvantages: • easy to hang on it • impossible to track • you can only pay in cash face-to-face • It’s only accepted in your country if you’re Hungarian Credit Card: Advantages: • It’s safer for people who afraid somebody will steal their money • It’s more convenient to make large purchases • you can get reward point on it • Credit card acceptance is global Disadvantages: • It has fee, high-interest rate • Credit card debt happens quickly • People forget they spend real money

Budapest - Tétel

I live in Budapest, which is the capital city of Hungary. It has a population of 2 million inhabitants. It’s on the northern part of the country. It’s financial, commercial, political and cultural centre of Hungary. There’re many World Heritage Sites, such as Buda Castle and the House of Parliament. There I can find religious and historical, for example, St. Stephen’s Basilica and the Synagogue on Dohány Street. Hungary is well-known for its thermal water in Middle-Europe. There are many spas in Budapest, such as Széchenyi Spa. Inside the city, there are lots of companies. The industry is significant. There are agricultural fiends on outskirts. There are block of flats in downtown. If you would like to go further education Budapest is a good choice, because there are lots of universities like Corvinus University. The weather is continental in Budapest. It snows in the winter and in the summer the weather is dry, although there can be sudden raining, so don’t forget to watch the weathe

Family - Tétel

Family is a very important thing in our life. Unfortunately, nowadays people don’t have a normal family. Let me tell you these types. There’re single-parent families. This means the parents divorced or one of the parents has already died. There’re mixed families, too. It means the wife/husband has children from his/her second marriage. Unfortunately, some children are orphan, which means both of their parents have already died. So, they have no parents. Of course, in general, there’re normal families, too. I’m not lucky because I have a single-parent family. I’m usually jealous of children who have a normal family. I live with my mum and sister. In the summer we usually play table tennis outside in the garden. We go on holiday together. We’ve been to many places together. Let me introduce myself. I was born on 2004 22nd April. I’m a student at Károly Keleti Secondary Vocational School of Economics. In my humble opinion, I’m an average person. I’m of medium height. I’ve normal body wei
