Law - Death Penalty

Kép
Introduction: Discussions about capital punishment have always provoked heated debates. There has been an argument going on between the supporters and the opposition whether the death penalty ought to be legalised or not. It appears to me that both sides are passionately defending their own point of view about this controversial topic that has no grounds of agreement. There is no way of knowing what the correct answer is for this question. However, we are just about to find out what the most favourable solution would be for this recently discussed phenomenon. Arguments for the death penalty: One of the many counter-arguments that the supporters have when it comes to such punishments is that there has been an increasingly high unemployment rate among  convicted inmates. Another reason why many people support the idea of executions is to lower / lessen the upkeep costs of these prosecuted perpetrators. What is more, numerous people tend to declare that these inmates will be likely to...

Appereance - Body Image and Eating Disorders

Kép
Introduction: The noun "body image" is the equivalent of how a person sees themselves. Unfortunately, there have been numerous cases when the consequences of extreme body dissatisfaction had a fatal / lethal impact on the individual. The impact on the young generation: A tremendous number of adolescent girls tend to be utterly self-conscious and body-focused due to the increasingly huge influence of social media sites. People of the 21st century tend to put an enormously huge emphasis on physical perfection and beauty. Many health care professionals declare that the current standards of beauty displayed on the Internet are absurdly unnatural, surveys suggest. Under-aged young minors tend to compare themselves to those perfectly-looking females who appear on TV that has a detrimental effect on these children's self-esteem because they feel that they fall short. Surveys suggest: Researchers carried out a survey indicating that losing weight often starts as starting dieting ...

Otherness - Diversity in Education

Kép
Introduction: Even though students are taught in the same room, have the same lessons with the same books, pupils' learning abilities may vary from person to person. I firmly believe that there are numerous children who may find it difficult to acquire the know-how of writing and reading. Apart from subject someone is due to find some obstacles in doing sport, everybody is different and we all have strengths and weaknesses. Diversity in education is one of the many things that educational institutions should take into account when it comes to designing the National Curriculum. Dyslexia: There is great cause for concern for those parents whose children have permanent problems with reading, writing or spelling. Those children with the above-mentioned symptoms have an increased risk of dyslexia that can either be a deficiency or a disability. Unfortunately, until about the 1950s dyslexic people were seen are handicapped humans owing to their low IQ. Children with dyslexia were segrega...

Bioethics - Abortion Debate

Kép
Introduction: Ought Abortion to be legalised worldwide? I strongly reckon that the answer is "yes" for this question. I firmly believe that Abortion is one of the most hotly debated topics ever that has no ground of agreement.   There is an argument going on between the supporters and the opponents whether such surgeries ought to be decriminalized in some countries. There is no telling what the answer is for this question but I'm just about to outline and express how I feel about the recent topic. Arguments: The opponents of Abortion: There are a tremendous number of people opposing the removal of the embryo or the fetus from the uterus in the first trimester by will. Many people declare that i t’s murder / homicide and we are not the ones that can decide whether the person  that a woman gives birth to should live or die so as to end a pregnancy. The main counter-argument that these people have when it comes to undergoing such surgeries is that the current number of ...

Otherness - People with Disabilities

Kép
Introduction: Provided that you have already been abroad, what you may have experienced is that otherness is more visible outside of Hungary. That is why you are unlikely to see wheelchairs and guide dogs for those people who had lost their sight within the country. The main question is then whether the current number of handicapped people has decreased or not. I firmly believe that the answer is "no" for this question. Disadvantaged people: Researchers carried out a survey indicating that there is an estimated ratio that 10% of people have some kind of disability or impairment. Since their job prospects are less favourable owing to the lack of financial resources, they are more likely to be hit by poverty. According to an academic journal, handicapped people may find difficulties in finding the workplace of their dreams, that meets their needs. Despite the fact that both the UNO and the EU have introduced laws that forbid and prohibit discrimination in the field of dis...

Animal Protection - Circuses and Zoos

Kép
Introduction: Ought animals to be used for human entertainment? Unfortunately, the answer is "yes" in the 21st century. Many parents take their kids to circuses and turn a blind eye to animal cruelty. I'm not a big fan of treating animals badly and keeping them in captivity. I'm persuaded about the fact that animals should have the right to be protected and treated humanely. Circuses: Living in cages: A tremendous number of animals have been stolen from their families and been removed from their natural habitat and environment. Millions of animals have to live in captivity in outrageously miserable conditions and circumstances and are exposed to a lot of senseless pain. Circus trainers usually discipline them with whips to make them obey the commands given to them. Animals trained in circus tents had better be obedient otherwise they will be beaten with bullhooks and whipped into submission. They are trained to do unnatural and senseless tricks for human entertainment...

Can't Stay Away from Social Media?

Kép
Introduction: There is an increasing number of people declaring that social networking sites fulfil an important role in human life. I deeply agree with it since Facebook and Instagram have become primary methods for communication and socialization. Good aspects: Keeping up with our fast-changing world: Youngsters tend to visit their social accounts numerous times a day so as to maintain and develop their social relationships with the people whom they are surrounded by. Social networking sites (SNSs) offer the opportunity to interact with people from all over the world. There is no telling what the future will entail and therefore people have to keep up-to-date and stay abreast of the times. SNSs makes it possible to get informed about the latest news of our fast-changing world of globalization. The impact of SNSs Social sites, such as LinkedIn, highly contributes and enhances your career prospects. There is a higher percentage that SNSs users are more likely to find the wo...

Living on the Margins - Living without a shelter

Kép
Introduction: Whether a developed country is rich or not, it appears to me that there have  always  been homeless people. Wherever I go in Hungary I have always found people without a roof over their heads. Homelessness is not a new phenomenon and it's a societal problem that has to be dealt with. According to a research: Researchers carried out a survey about whether homeless people are responsible for their situation and how they cope and deal with their problems. The survey indicated that the vast majority of people are single men but women are also affected. Sleeping rough is seldom the choice of these people. One of the many ways how people lose their homes is that they had lost their jobs and they were not able to pay the monthly instalments and their house was repossessed and they found themselves on the street. Unbearable conditions: Homeless people have to endure the unbearable circumstances and conditions of the street that makes it almost impossible to break out fro...

Living on the Margins - Addicted to Drugs

Kép
Introduction: Despite the fact that eating poppy seed in some countries doesn't appear to be a criminal offence, drug abuse is an outrageously serious societal problem that has to be dealt with. In general: It's presumed that the vast majority of people become drug addicts due to the lack of willpower that makes it almost impossible to give up substance abuse. Drug addiction is a complex disease. Provided that you take drugs into your body, the substance will modify your brain in a very unfavourable way that makes the addict want more drugs to avoid the excruciating withdrawal symptoms that may occur. Consequences: Taking drugs can be a cause of lots of things, including domestic violence or the loss of employment. Drug usage is not recommended among under-aged minors, either. There is a higher percentage that children with substance abuse will fail or be expelled from school owing to their violent and disruptive behaviour. Researchers carried out a survey indicating that drug ...

Domestic Violence in Families

Kép
Introduction: Violence against women is one of the most common and widespread violations of human rights. There is an estimated ratio that one in three women has experienced physical or sexual abuse in their lifetime caused by an intimate partner. In general: Domestic violence can either be physical abuse but it's just one of the many ways how men can commit such crimes. It can be psychological, economic, not to mention sexual abuse. Researchers carried out a survey that indicated that abuse often starts as emotional and later it's likely to become physical. Leaving an abusive relationship is outrageously difficult since the vast majority of women are frightened and scared of their abuser and the consequences that may happen if they extricate themselves from such relationships. Many psychologists claim that their patients were being threatened by their partners declaring that their husband will may kill their little ones. There is an increasing number of women who are trapped i...
