Domestic Violence in Families

Introduction:

Violence against women is one of the most common and widespread violations of human rights. There is an estimated ratio that one in three women has experienced physical or sexual abuse in their lifetime caused by an intimate partner.

In general:

Domestic violence can either be physical abuse but it's just one of the many ways how men can commit such crimes. It can be psychological, economic, not to mention sexual abuse. Researchers carried out a survey that indicated that abuse often starts as emotional and later it's likely to become physical.

Leaving an abusive relationship is outrageously difficult since the vast majority of women are frightened and scared of their abuser and the consequences that may happen if they extricate themselves from such relationships. Many psychologists claim that their patients were being threatened by their partners declaring that their husband will may kill their little ones. There is an increasing number of women who are trapped in abusive relationships due to the lack of financial resources, fear or their children's protection.

A ridiculous number of women tend to endure the abuse due to the fact that some traditional communities ostracize and reject divorced women. These people tend to not think about the rejection that these women feel that I'm honestly outraged about. Many studies have appeared in newspapers looking at the causes that may have a huge influence on violence committed in families.

Gender inequality:

There has been an argument going on about the gender norms that promote the inferiority of women. It has been a hotly debated topic since there is an enormously huge controversy. Inequality has always sparked outrage among women fighting for their equal rights. There are lots of people claiming that the women's place is in the kitchen that I absolutely disagree with. I really hope that the generation of the 21st century will say that women can now aim higher than their ancestors had ever dared to.

The history of this phenomenon:

Before the 1970s, domestic abuse wasn't considered to be a crime. Instead of that, it was believed to be a private family matter that had to be dealt within the family. The police didn't tend to launch investigations or intervene. They didn't interfere except in the most serious cases where intervention had to be made against the violator because the interference was justifiedIn some male-dominated societies, domestic violence is still considered as being part of the natural order of things and is claimed to be legally permitted.

The impact on children:

I firmly believe that living in an abusive home has an enormously bad impact on the little ones raised in abusive homes since they are more likely to become abusers or think that violence is a normal part of relationships. That's why corporal punishment is not advised to impose on youngsters because they will be more likely to practice wife-beating or honor killings on their wives.
