Appereance - Body Image and Eating Disorders

Introduction:

The noun "body image" is the equivalent of how a person sees themselves. Unfortunately, there have been numerous cases when the consequences of extreme body dissatisfaction had a fatal / lethal impact on the individual.

The impact on the young generation:

A tremendous number of adolescent girls tend to be utterly self-conscious and body-focused due to the increasingly huge influence of social media sites. People of the 21st century tend to put an enormously huge emphasis on physical perfection and beauty. Many health care professionals declare that the current standards of beauty displayed on the Internet are absurdly unnatural, surveys suggest. Under-aged young minors tend to compare themselves to those perfectly-looking females who appear on TV that has a detrimental effect on these children's self-esteem because they feel that they fall short.

Surveys suggest:

Researchers carried out a survey indicating that losing weight often starts as starting dieting and later it may lead to an eating disorder. People with such disorders need psychiatric care and they had better be hospitalized before the inevitable mortal consequences occur. According to an academic journal, one of the many reasons for the rapid / fast-paced spread of eating disorders is that lots of anorexic people, for instance, do not seek treatment and they do not confide their family and doctors. The vast majority of these involved patients deny having their condition acknowledged and thus they do not recognize their undeniably existent disorder.

Anorexia:

Despite the fact that anorexic people suffer from outrageously terrible hunger pains, patients with anorexia are likely to starve themselves. The main thing that they want to avoid is gaining weight and therefore they do not consume enough food that is an indispensable condition of living. Even though they are bone-thin and skinny, they tend to lower their food consumption so as to lose even more weight. Reportedly, there have been lots of cases when the patient had to be sent to the hospital so as to prevent fatality / mortality.

Bulimia:

The trend shows that people with bulimia always consume enormous amounts of food and then get rid of it. This procedure can either be accomplished by vomiting, excessive exercise, or laxatives among other methods. Since many individuals suffering from bulimia eat too much (binge) and then remove the consumed from their bodies (purging). Sometimes, they can manage to succeed to hide their problems and they do not come into the open that they suffer from such disorder.

Conclusion:

What is common in these disorders is that those people who are involved in such disorders ought to confide a trusted adult and ask for help if needed.
