Ha felsőfokúzni készülsz akkor bizony elvárás hogy tisztában legyél a rendszer álltal megkövetelt kötőszavakkal, ennek az angolban több féle megnevezése van: Linker Word, Linking Word, Connectors, Conjunctions, Transitions. Jó ha tudod hogy érdemes ezeket a varázs szavakat használni mert átláthatóbbá teszi a fogalmazásodat és vezérli az olvasót a mellékmondataid közti logikai kapcsolat megértésében. Ha nem használsz tudatosan ilyen szavakat akkor nem alkotsz összefüggő szöveget. A fogalmazásod javítói egy külön javítási szempontot szántak ennek (Kohézió). Szerinten Euroexamen a writing-nál potya pontokat lehet szerezni ha használsz ilyen szavakat. Sokkal könnyebb megszerezni ezeket a pontokat mint például a szókincsre. Ezért alább sok linkert megemlítek angolul.
Giving reasons and causes:

- I'm just about to play football thus I can't talk with you. (FUTURE)
Talking about purposes and results:
- He took the course in order to get a better job.
- Trees are being planted by the roadside so as to reduce traffic noise.
- He took the course to get a better job.
- She stayed at work late so as to complete the report.
OR: She stayed at work late so that she could complete the report.
Contrasting ideas:
- Although / Though Reid failed to score himself, he helped Jones to score two goals.
- Despite the fact that / In spite of the fact that Reid failed to score himself, he helped Jones to score two goals.
- Despite / In spite of Reid's failing to score himself, he helped Jones to score two goals.
- Even though Matt doesn’t speak Spanish, I think he should still visit Madrid.
- Even if Matt doesn’t speak Spanish, I think he should still visit Madrid.
- While / Whilst there is no evidence that Rob cheated, we were all astonished that he passed the exam.
- Juan gets lots of homework from school, while / whereas Mia gets very little.
